When I first read it, I thought it was a ridiculous conspiracy theory...
and then everything she said started proving itself before my very eyes. it just feels different...
As Christine Taylor Butler expressed on our "Black Biz Banter" podcast yesterday, there is a heightened level of excitement this time around. Christine Taylor-Butler is the author of over 90 books on STEM, ecology, animals, mystery and many more. The ones we discussed on April 4, 2024 are called, "Solar Energy" and "Experiment with Solar Energy." It felt like home when I first arrived.
Ethiopia...It all started when the airport officials pointed at me and motioned to come forward to their booth. I didn't know what was happening as they were speaking what I now know was Amharic. Since I travelled alone, I didn't know what I was about to encounter. [Updated 6/19/25]
May Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu rest in power June 15, 1953-4/21/2025. We give thanks for all of the literary contributions he made in making sure Black children are displayed in a positive light. This is the first book I read that permanently changed my spending habits... When I filled out the financial expenses worksheet provided in "Black Economics: Solutions for Economic and Community Empowerment" by Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu-(African American Images publishers), my jaw dropped when I saw my results. This wasn't just a sheet of numbers anymore. It also included a column to indicate the ethnicity of the person I signed my check over to for each expense. At the time I was supporting Black artists at the yearly BHM event while in corporate America, but, the numbers on that worksheet helped me realize that more than 95% of my money was going outside of the community each month. It became crystal clear that I could do so much better. Books About Malcolm XIt is exciting to have the privilege of access to a newer perspective into this cultural hero’s journey. “The Dead Are Arising – The Life of Malcolm X,” is written by Les Payne (1941-2018). This book just released Oct. 20, 2020. The author, born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and a former editor at Newsday. As one of the founders of the National Association of Black Journalists, Payne also wrote an award-winning syndicated column. Even the title of the new book seems well selected. “The Dead are [now] rising” is a phrase Malcolm X used when referring to the masses of Black people rising in conscientious support of the teachings of Elijah Muhammad (New York Public Library archives). I am not personally familiar with the author, but took note of a few of his Youtube videos which were quite intriguing and gave insight to his being a reputable researcher. “The Dead Are Arising” has been released posthumously by his daughter, Tamara Payne, who served as his “principal researcher” and now lives in New York.
